Requesting information about Marmara Sea.
We recently moved our boat north from Marmaris to Istanbul and plan to sail the Marmara Sea in the summer of 2007.
I have been looking for a cruising guide or similar book that covers the Marmara Sea and have been unable to find any except for Rod Heikell's "Turkish Waters & Cyprus Pilot".
Can anyone suggest any sources for information on sailing the Sea of Marmara?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Heikell is pretty much the authority. There are some local pilots you can get in Turkey, in English, but these are not always available and are very local, centered more on advertising local stuff than sailing. None of them are remotely as good as Heikell. There was another one out a while back, written by Robin Petherbridge, but no new editions have been printed since 1990, I think, so he is completely out of date. Online info seems to be very patchy, hopefully this will be remedied when you come back from your trip and write it up on skipper2skipper :-) Cheers, --Skipper 07:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks for the information. I've tracked down Mr.Petherbridge's e-mail address to ask him whether or not the book covers the Sea of Marmara. If anyone knows the answer, I would very much appreciate knowing it.
Thanks again, Bill Howes.
Naples
Anyone has any info about sailing Italy, specifically - the Naples bay? Thanks!
