Shelter
This anchorage offers good shelter -3+3LW. When Fills Rocks cover most of the protection is lost to any swell from N through to SE. Shallow draft craft may benefit from anchoring closer in to Emblestone Rocks (the rock at south of the image)
Navigation and Anchoring
There are no aids to navigation provided. In daylight locate the U grouped terraced houses of Newton Square. The roof ridge alignment of the southernmost cottages will give a safe leading line of 240T. Once Embleton Rock aligns with Dunstanburgh Castle 155T (just before the moorings) the skipper follows the second line. Depths shelve gradually towards Embleton Rock but shelter from SE swell greatly improves. Bilge keelers may want to dry on firm flat sand to SE of the cottages. Best ask a local sailor the extent of the sand or survey yourself.
As there is little current in here, you might consider laying the kedge astern such that you remain head-to the expected incoming waves, it'll make for a much more comfortable stay.
Facilities
In settled weather Low Newton is a delight - no facilities, no charges, and a pub of your dreams! Great food, great ale!
Happy sailing, Ed.
