General
Lezardrieux is a small market town, about 6 miles down the Trieux River in a very attractive sailing area. However, this sailing area is not for the fainthearted, so be cautions. The town is a short walk up the hill (there is a short cut through the woods to the church). The town centre has shops and banks, and there is a reasonable supermarket just beyond the town centre. It is an attractive small town.
A popular first port of call for yachts crossing the English Channel, bound for Brittany and ports further west and south. The river leading up to the small town is well marked for both day and night entry.
Once south of the junction with the Ferlaz Channel, the river offers few opportunities for anchoring. The best spots are full of private moorings and as the tides run hard here, it is important to be out of the main stream. North of Le Croix lighthouse there are several nooks and crannies among the rocks which can be used in reasonably settled weather and with a large scale chart.
The main marina has all tide access and there is a useful waiting pontoon for the inner marina by the northern-most large concrete and white marker in the middle of the river.

Approaches
Lezardrieux is a straightforward sail from Guernsey, which can usually be covered in one tide. St Martin's Point to the Trieux entry is just under 40 miles. France:Roches Douvres provide a useful midway landmark. It is a similar distance from St Malo (via Isle de Brehat) and from St Helier.
From Treguier there is a shortcut via La Passe de la Gaine, then cutting from Moisie beacon to La Vielle at the mouth of the France:Trieux. You need to study the chart (Admiralty 3670, Sept Isle to L'Ost Pic) carefully for this one!
Coming from further west, it would be better to go round Les Heaux.
From the north or west, you will be using the Grande Chenal, in which case the first approach buoy will be Les Sirlots - (G, Whistle). You are then 3.6 miles from La Croix, a large, broad lighthouse, unmistakable by day or night.
From the south, you will probably go through the channel to the south of Isle de Brehat. The N cardinal, Basse du Chanel, is probably as good a point as any to begin your approach. It is 5 miles until you join the main Trieux River around 1 mile SW of La Croix.
As with all the North Brittany coast, rocks abound, but they are all very obvious or well marked. You need to keep an eye on the chart if you are not familiar with the area. Once you have established your position for the approach, then the rest is relatively straightforward.
Night entry is possible, but not recommended for your first visit. Even so, proceed with caution

The main part of the marina has pontoons stretching out into the river: as with Treguier, be very careful of your approach if there is any tide running. Cross currents are considerable. There is an inner marina with a sill accessible at about half tide.
The pontoons are lit by floodlights from the shore at night which are reminiscent of prison camps! The inner marina is a heat trap during the day.
