Ireland is an island at the west coast of the Irish Sea in the west of England and Wales (Great Britain).

Politically it is divided in two parts: Northern Ireland is political part of Great Britain and consists of about a quarter of the island Ireland. Till the beginning of the 20th century whole Ireland was belonging to Great Britain. From these ancient times the terms of the provinces Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connaught have still survived. Northern Ireland consists of a part of the former province Ulster, the rest is part of the Republic of Ireland which isn't any more part of Great Britain.
