General

Malahide, a town on Ireland’s east coast known locally as “the village” has a certain charm that draws people back, again and again. For the sailor, the location is ideal for cruising this scenic stretch of coastline. But when it comes to shore-leave, there is no better place for a stop-over.

Weather

This section comes from this template: Template:Ireland Climate. Please edit it there, if it is applicable to all the locations in Ireland.

Ireland's climate is influenced by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream, and is in the path of the prevailing southwesterly winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean. This makes for equitable conditions over the whole country and means Ireland is never exposed to extremes of weather.

The coldest months are January and February, while July and August are warmest. Over the year it generally gets no colder than 1 degree Celsius (34 F) or warmer than about 20 degrees Celsius (68 F). Ireland is renowned for its rain. It can rain at any time of the year, but does so most often in the winter and in the western half of the country.

Malahide Marina

Malahide Marina is located just ten miles north of Dublin’s city centre, convenient to the M1 and M50 motorways, and well served by public transport. Dublin International Airport is a mere four miles from the marina, and high speed ferries to the U.K. are within easy reach.

Approach

The entrance to the estuary is well marked. Boats should proceed to the Fairway Buoy (approximate position Lat. 53 27 101, Long. 06 06 811) and then proceed up the channel passing between the buoys leaving them to the appropriate side, up to the Marina entrance. The buoys are lit after dark

Exceptionally good on-shore facilities are now available in our purpose built Marina Centre: showers/toilets including disabled; 24 hour security; carparking, swipe card access, cctv, laundry and ice. Malahide has everything for the visiting yachtsperson, with a wide variety of restaurants, lively pubs, a historic castle, park and botanical gardens, beach, tennis and golf.
