General

A picturesque island which offers five anchorages and a beach to dry on. The 'Guardian' will charge a small landing fee but then you have a wonderful picnic place offering good views of the mid Forth.

Approaches, Routes and Navigation

Approach with care as extensive 'Medulse' rocks are to NE and 'Midden' rocks to W and NW. Across Mortimers Deep gas tankers discharge at Braefoot Terminal attended by one or two fire tugs lying to moorings N of Inchcolm. The main shipping channel passes close S of the island.

Note. rig anchor trip line wherever you go. 1. N of Abbey 2. NW of Abbey (off leading lights) 3. Off SW landing 4. South Bay (close in and take the ground or remain afloat by anchoring close to SE peninsula) 5. ESE of Swallow Craig

Note. 3&4 are affected by to ship wash.
