Latest Information

Nothing to report, if you have anything to add, please add it here. Don't forget to put a date next to it!

General

Sorry, no map available. The unoccupied island (privately owned) is approximately 2.5M NE of Leith and 2.5M SE of Kinghorn Ness. It is steep sided and wedge shaped, approximately 0.6M long and 0.2 wide at the 'thick' northern end. A powerful LH is situated at the summit. Good shelter is available in anchorages to E and W. Limited shelter is in the small northern bay. A derelict harbour on the W side offers no safe piers or walls for yachts.

Approaches, Routes and Navigation

To E & N is deep water with no outlying rocks. S & SE is complicated by offlying rocks (Herwit) complete with shipwreck - be cautious and give a wide berth. The West Harbour should be approached on a Co 100deg to avoid the drying rocks to NW (Seal Carr) and to SW (Iron Craig).

Tidal information and currents

Nothing unexpected.

Anchorages

Rig a trip line for all anchorages. Anchor close in to E under the LH. Anchor in N bay in suitable depths. You will be affected by wash from the main shipping channel. Anchor in, or off West Harbour in suitable depth.

Places and things to see

I have been ashore by dinghy to explore. The island is littered by unsightly derelict military buildings. A walk to the summit is rewarding as the views are fantastic. The seabirds will not make you welcome - wear a hat!
