Basic Details

Also known as the “Super Sovereign” or Sovereign MII, the MkII or Super Sovereign is a all Fibre glass boat where as the earlier boats were of composite construction. This is a very late 1960’s design built originally by Uphams of Brixham to a Holman and Pye design. The two sovereigns possess a strong family likeness with their long overhangs and doghouse coachroof line. She is a very capable offshore cruiser and easily handled with her compact ketch rig. Below decks she had a good seagoing interior with a big chart table, secure gallery from 5 to 7 berths depending on saloon choice and a fully enclosed heads forward. There were 19 Sovereigns built from the late 60’s to the late 70’s by Uphams, more possibly by other yards and at least 2 more from Barbican Yachts rigged as sloops.
